Queen Elizabeth II once praised the strength given to her by her husband, Prince Philip.
The former monarch admitted on her golden wedding anniversary that the former Duke of Edinburgh was her strength.
In his book The Queen: 70 Chapters in the Life of Queen Elizabeth II, author Ian Lloyd shared: “Neither of them were ever comfortable wearing their hearts on their sleeves, but on the day they celebrated their Golden Wedding in November 1997, the Queen paid a rare public tribute to her husband.”
“He is a man who does not accept compliments easily, but he, quite simply, has been my strength and has been with me for so many years, and I, his entire family, and this and many other countries, owe him a greater debt than he will ever claim, or we will ever know.”
“For a man who had given up his promising career to support her throughout her life, it was a touching gesture and one that apparently brought her close to tears,” she said.
