Princess Diana was surprised to see then-Prince Charles visit her after her soulmate.
The former Princess of Wales, who died after an accident in Paris in 1997, once poked fun at her ex-husband when he visited her after their divorce.
Former butler Paul Burrell revealed in his book A Royal Duty: “The last person I expected was the heir to the throne.”
Burrell shared: “Charles came in unannounced. ‘Hello, Paul, can I come in?’ He said. He had to catch a helicopter…but it was early, so he decided to meet his estranged wife.”
He wrote: “If I was surprised, I couldn’t wait to see the boss’s (Princess Diana) reaction.”
“She looked over her shoulder at me and her eyes widened in mock fear,” the former royal staffer said. “Then she couldn’t resist breaking the ice with her usual humor.”
Diana reportedly quipped: “I think you’ve come to move the furniture, Charles!”
