Seth Peterson’s death at the age of 28 sparked online mourning, but some observers also questioned the fundraiser set up to cover the costs of his funeral.
Peterson’s partner, Kobe Marsh, announced the news in a statement shared on social media, calling him his “fiancé and best friend” and thanking supporters for their messages of sympathy.
A GoFundMe page set up in Peterson’s memory says the money will go toward funeral expenses and to help during what Marsh called a “difficult time.”
However, the appeal has sparked debate on social media platforms, where some users expressed surprise that an artist in the entertainment industry would require public donations to fund such costs.
Others have rejected that notion, noting that income in the field can be inconsistent and often lack long-term financial security or benefits.
