The White House on Wednesday hosted an educational event in which technology leaders from different countries participated to find solutions to empower children through innovative ways. The program featured a participant who was neither a diplomat nor a policy maker, but a humanoid robot.
The event brought together international leaders to plan ways of educational empowerment that will use innovation and artificial intelligence technologies for the benefit of children.
The humanoid, named Figure 03, walked the red carpet with First Lady Melania Trump before taking his place in the center of the room.
The speaker expressed his gratitude to First Lady Melania Trump, saying, “Thank you, First Lady Melania Trump, for inviting me to the White House. I am grateful to be a part of this historic movement to empower children with technology and education”, offering greetings in 10 languages.
The First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, declared, “You are my first American-made humanitarian guest in the White House.” The robot proceeded to somersault its way down the red carpet, an important demonstration of human-robot partnership.
Figure 03 is a third-generation humanoid from Sunnyvale, California-based startup Figure AI. The robot, which will enter the market in October 2025, works as a home assistant that does cleaning and laundry and dishwashing. CEO Brett Adcock used social media to announce the achievement, which he described as “the first humanoid robot in the White House.”
The startup is competing with companies including Boston Dynamics, Elon Musk’s Tesla and Chinese robotics firms to create human-like robots capable of performing everyday tasks.
