Barbara Eden proves that some magic never fades.
In his latest conversation with people magazine, Barbara Eden has shared that the pilot episode of I Dream of Jeannie remains her favorite after almost six decades.
As fans will know, Eden portrayed the iconic character of Genie, a 2,000-year-old genie, on the much-talked-about show.
“It’s definitely the one I’ve always considered the best,” Eden shared at the Beverly Hills Film Festival on April 13.
While the show officially ended decades ago, the actress says reruns have kept it alive over the years.
Eden claimed, “She’s always been on the air. Never been off.”
Eden pointed to a rare feat in the television industry that the show has transformed from a prime-time hit to a staple of global syndication, never disappearing.
“I have a lot of mail from Russia, from China, from places you would never imagine, from all over Europe, Spain, France, the UK,” Eden said.
Reportedly, he still receives “thank yous” from fans who express “how much they enjoy it.”
“But a lot of times, a lot of times, it’s people who are in trouble and who have tragic upbringings. And many people told me that … the bottle was a refuge for them, the Genie bottle,” Eden said.
With this said, Eden reflected on what the show means to her and said that it is “just a joy to me,” adding, “I love it. I love it.”
Before concluding, she said, “Of course, once I left Jenny, I did a lot of other things, but this was very gratifying to me.”
