Margot Robbie wore a simple, flowy summer mini dress outfit

If you’ve ever attended a college football game (especially in the South), you’ve probably made an observation or two about what students wear on game days. As a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana (go Tigers!) and now a resident of a very college-dense part of North Carolina, I have been curious about the attire of girls attending college many times. For many years, they have gravitated toward the same simple outfit combination: a casual mini dress and Western boots (preferably mid-calf or knee-high).

I don’t know how or why it became game-day attire, but I recognize the practicality. Football games are often hot, so mini dress, and regardless of the car you came by (or the dorm or sorority house you live in), you’ll probably have to do a lot of walking between your tailgate location and the stadium, so walk-able western shoes. But as Margot Robbie proved while heading to West Hollywood hot spot The Bird Streets Club on a very hot day in LA over the weekend, this is not an outfit combination that is by any means typical for a college football stadium.
