Thanks to the brilliant performance of Jack Hughes, New Jersey Devils defeated Washington Capitals 7-3 in the match on Thursday night.
Jack Hughes scored twice and added three assists in a five-point night, leading the Devils’ offense to a dominant win.
His first goal came on a wrist shot 9:10 minutes into the second period, with assists from Jesper Bratt and Johnathan Kovacevic. They scored again 8:10 into the third period, once again Bratt teamed up with Connor Brown to set it up.
Hughes now has 24 goals and 44 assists this season.
Dawson Mercer also scored twice for New Jersey, while Bratt, Dougie Hamilton and Cody Glass added more goals to round out the scoring.
For the Capitals, Tom Wilson, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Cole Hutson each scored, but Washington struggled to contain the Devils’ offense throughout the game.
Goaltender Jake Allen made 29 saves to ensure New Jersey’s victory. On the other end, Logan Thompson stopped 23 shots from Washington.
