AT&T’s next plan could cost more than your phone payment

AT&T just completed its new 2.0 plan lineup last month, but it looks like the carrier isn’t done yet. according to A leak from Sneed Mobile TechAn AT&T Elite 2.0 plan is in the works, and the price will make your eyes water. Reports suggest that a line can run about $110 per month.

To be clear, this figure has not been officially confirmed. The leak only includes pricing for four lines at $75 each, but if that’s the difference between the Elite 2.0 and the current Premium 2.0, a single line landing around $110 is a fair guess. There’s also no word yet on when AT&T actually plans to launch it.

So what do you get at that price?

A lot of data, to be honest. According to the leak, the AT&T Elite 2.0 plan includes 250GB of hotspot data, 20GB of monthly global data for international travelers, unlimited talk and calling in more than 20 Latin American countries, and smartwatch and tablet access (though the exact details on that last part are still unclear). Additionally, AT&T reportedly offers Turbo Unlimited at no extra charge. This is notable because AT&T currently sells Turbo as a $7-a-month add-on that boosts your data priority for things like streaming and gaming.

The hotspot jump alone is huge. The current Premium 2.0 offers 100GB of hotspot data for $90 per month. The Elite 2.0 reportedly more than doubles this. But here’s the thing: T-Mobile’s top-tier Experience Beyond plan runs $100 a month, and Verizon’s Unlimited Ultimate runs $90. Neither of these are cheap, but the AT&T Elite 2.0 plan will be the pricier of both, and unlike its competitors, there’s no streaming bundle in sight. No Max, no Netflix, no nothing. AT&T removed bundled streaming features from its Elite tier a while ago and hasn’t looked back.

For most people, this is going to be a hard sell. But if you travel frequently, use hotspot data, and live somewhere with rock-solid AT&T coverage, the math can really work out. For everyone else, $110 per month for a phone plan is a lot to ask for.
