As expected, Euphoria achieved tremendous ratings after the first episode of Season 3 dropped.
The HBO drama, in addition to disappointing fans, attracted 8.5 million viewers in the US in just three days.
In doing so, these figures marked a surprising jump of 44% from the beginning of Season 2, allowing the creators to avoid some viewer criticism following the airing of the first episode.
Notably, this figure is expected by observers after season three, which recorded a solid 157 million views in 2 days, beating season 2’s record by 57%.
However, this chaos-filled show has not been without controversy, which began with the OnlyFans plot involving Sidney Sweeney’s character, Cassie Howard, in the first episode of season three.
However, series creator Sam Levinson defended the storyline in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“(Cassie) has her dog house and her little dog ears and nose, and it has its own humor, but what makes the scene is that her housekeeper is the one filming it.”
“What we always wanted to find is another layer of absurdity that we’re able to tie in so that we’re not inside his imagination or illusion – the gag is to jump out and break the wall.”
Excitement Season three is streaming on HBO Max.
