A tragic incident took place in Ascot Vale recently, with one person losing his life after a car veered onto the footpath and hit two pedestrians outside the Melbourne Showground.
The second victim, who was attacked on Langs Road just before 5:00pm, has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police arrested a man at the scene, which coincided with the Supanova Clinic Con & Gaming event being held at the Showgrands this weekend.
“It is believed a gray Toyota veered off the road onto Langs Road and struck two pedestrians just before 5pm,” police said in a statement. “Sadly one of the pedestrians, who has not yet been formally identified, died at the scene.”
“The second pedestrian was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”
