Prince Louis’ latest birthday picture has sparked speculation about a subtle change to royal family tradition.
The photo, shared to commemorate Louis turning 8 on April 23, shows him smiling by the sea, believed to be in Norfolk where the royal family often spends time.
However, former royal butler Grant Harrold revealed he was surprised the photo wasn’t taken by Lewis’ mom, Kate Middleton, who is known for personally capturing and releasing numerous birthday pictures of her children in recent years.
Harrold said the change behind the camera indicated there had been a quiet change in the couple’s general attitude during the conversation mirror.
“We know Kate and William love being by the sea, so I’m not surprised they shared a photo of her by the sea,” the expert said.
He added, “I think it’s in Norfolk. Obviously it’s quite a special place to them. But I’m surprised the photo wasn’t taken by Kate, as it’s become her most common view.”
Speaking about his future role in the royal family, he said, “Louis is the King’s grandson, and will one day become the Emperor’s son.
“Changes in the laws around the line of succession mean he sits behind Princess Charlotte, so he is fourth in line to the throne and it is very unlikely he will ever become king.
“So there’s not as much pressure on him as there is on his older brother, George, who will be very aware of his future role by now.”
