It has been claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei has been seriously injured but will continue to lead his country. The new supreme leader has undergone three operations on his leg and four senior Iranian officials say he is waiting for a prosthetic limb.
He is believed to be having difficulty speaking after suffering severe burns on his face and lips, according to a report in The new York Times. Officials said that, in time, she is expected to require plastic surgery. Surrounded by a team of medical staff, reports state that he has undergone surgery on one hand and is beginning to regain function.
Khamenei has not appeared in public since assuming power following the death of his father Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a joint US-Israeli strike earlier this year.
Senior Guards commanders and senior government officials do not visit them, out of fear that Israel would locate them and kill them.
The 56-year-old has not even recorded any video or audio message for fear of appearing insecure in his much-awaited first public address. Instead, he has issued several written statements that have been posted online and read on state television.
According to officials, the messages are handwritten, sealed in envelopes and sent through a trusted relay of couriers who deliver them by car and motorcycle on highways and back roads until they reach his hideout.
Its responses are then sent back using the same method.
Khamenei praised his forces for resisting what he called American and Israeli “arrogance”, before threatening to bring about a “new defeat”.
The supreme leader also said that the “weakness and humiliation” of his opponents has been exposed for all to see. Khamenei has not been seen since the war began.
Earlier today the US President donald trump Claimed that Iran “does not know who their leader is” at this time.
Speaking on MS Now on Thursday, Trump said: “They’re all messed up. They have no idea who their leader is. You know, we actually took out three levels of leaders. And everybody that was behind them as well.”
