– Acharya Sushruta has described Ozonirodhj fever in Chapter 39 of Uttara Tantra – Fever Prohibited
– It is a type of typhoid fever in which Vata and Pitta predominate in the clinical picture. In this condition, due to increase in Vata and Pitta, Ojas is destroyed, which causes anti-ozenosic fever and later its symptoms appear.
– Major symptoms – Gatra Stambha, Shita, Shaynepsu (always desire to sleep), unconsciousness, API Jagrata Svapan (falling asleep and waking up frequently), Tandra, Pralapa, Romharsh, Srastanga and Manda Santapa Veda (mild increase in temperature and discomforts).
– By the 7th, 10th or 12th day, the anovulatory fever increases significantly and either subsides or kills the patient.
Ojo Nirodhj fever is a special type of fever explained by Acharya Sushruta. He explained this in terms of typhoid fever – a fever caused by the simultaneous aggravation of all three doshas. From the description of Sushruta, we also come to know that Ojo Nirodaja fever is a type of Sannipataja, that is, it is also caused by the simultaneous aggravation of all three doshas. Despite this, the clinical picture is dominated by increased pitta and vata. These two doshas cause severe destruction and depletion of Ojas – the essence of all tissues and result in the appearance of fever and symptoms.
