I had severe cold and cough for the last 10 days. As I laid down on the couch, my kids hovered over me (“Mom, are you okay?”), and I tried everything I could think of – menthol lozenges, Ricola lozenges, Robitussin, Robitussin PM, Advil, Advil PM, Mucinex, hot lemon tea, a humidifier, two humidifiers, a steamy shower, piles of pillows, fresh air, the list goes on.

Nothing was helping – the hacking cough persisted all day, all night – finally, my friend suggested something simple.
“Why don’t you have a spoonful of honey?”
I had spent a lot of money at the drugstore and I was skeptical that a shot of honey would move the needle. But I thought, why not, and pulled out our honey bears.
you guys. I stopped coughing almost immediately. Apparently honey coats your throat? I don’t really know the logic and you know what I don’t need to know. I was not coughing and felt very relieved. That night, I slept through the night for the first time in over a week.
Maybe everyone already knows this solution, but I thought I would share it in case anyone else like me is unaware of it. I’m drinking honey tea as I write this sentence and I’m so glad I found this trick!

The first discovery of honey.
How are you feeling these days? Any other cold remedies that you have found helpful?
