An elderly Israeli couple has been killed in an Iranian retaliation attack – as the regime’s president is reportedly considering resigning following the death of a fellow top leader.

Following the latest bombing by Iranian missiles, the husband and wife, both aged in their 70s, were found in a bomb shelter inside their Tel Aviv apartment.

    It comes like this…

The couple’s block is understood to have been attacked with a cluster bomb – a destructive munition that shatters into dozens of small pieces before impacting Target.

The death toll in Israel since the war began has now reached 14. iran.

Shocking pictures show the aftermath of the horrific attack – emergency services search debris in Ramat Gan, on the outskirts of Tel Aviv.

Influential security chief Larijani was assassinated on Tuesday along with several other prominent figures in an assassination that Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu claimed would help topple the regime.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the overnight retaliation was to “avenge the blood of martyr Dr. Ali Larijani and his comrades”.

A top army chief has also threatened even more “decisive and regrettable” action following the death of the de facto Iranian leader.

Larijani, 67, is understood to have taken command of military operations and become Iran’s stand-in leader following the death of Ali Khamenei.

Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday that Larijani had joined other Iranian leaders “in the depths of hell”.

Larijani, a former nuclear negotiator and close aide of slain Ayatollah Khamenei, was last seen taking part in Quds Day rallies in Tehran on Friday, taking a jibe at Donald Trump.

As Israeli missiles rained down behind the demonstrations, he told local media: “These attacks are out of fear, out of desperation.

“Those with power will not bomb demonstrations. It is clear that this has failed.”

The security chief declared Trump had failed to understand the “resolve” of the people as he marched alongside other top leaders, including Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian – who is now considering resignation.

Senior Iranian officials are considering stepping down due to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ “reckless” behavior in allegedly failing to protect Larijani.

The president was “extraordinarily angry” at the IRGC, which he accused of deliberately allowing Larijani’s death, Channel 14 Israel reported.

The outlet also claimed that the IRGC is “pleased” with Larijani’s death – and is now trying to consolidate power and shift the regime to a more extremist point.

On Wednesday, Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz claimed that Iran’s Intelligence Minister Ismail Khatib was killed in an overnight Israeli strike – although Tehran had no comment on the claim.

Katz also said that he and Netanyahu had authorized the military to kill any other senior Iranian officials already being targeted without any sanction, indicating that Israel is stepping up its campaign against the top ranks of the regime.

It comes as an expert has warned that the Iranian regime could collapse from within following Larijani’s brutal assassination.

Jason Brodsky, policy director at United Against Nuclear Iran, said deciding who becomes his replacement will be one of the most important decisions in Iran’s history.

As the war reaches its third week, the US is still considering plans to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Donald Trump dropped 5,000-pound bunker-buster bombs overnight on Iranian missile sites on a key waterway – a route for a fifth of global oil exports – in a bid to weaken the regime’s hold.

    Who was Ali Larijani?

    By Harvey Geh

ALI Larijani was Iran’s security chief and mastermind of the deadly protest crackdown.

A former Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander, he also served as Iran’s parliamentary speaker for 12 years and was once a nuclear negotiator.

At the time of his death, he was the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran – he was appointed to this role in August 2025.

He was widely considered the most powerful man in the regime – even sidelining Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian.

Larijani was a close adviser to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei before his assassination in February.

Khamenei’s death brought Larijani’s influence further into the spotlight – making him Iran’s de facto wartime leader.

He was never in line to succeed the late ayatollah – but still wielded significant power in the regime.

The US imposed new sanctions on him in January for his role in a brutal protest massacre earlier this year.

He was last seen in public on March 13 on the streets of Tehran for a Quds Day protest – openly mocking Donald Trump as Israeli missiles rained down behind him.

Brent crude prices are skyrocketing as Tehran has threatened to attack any enemy ships.

US Central Command said at the X that it had “successfully deployed more than 5,000 pounds of deep penetration munitions on hardened Iranian missile sites” off the coast of the strait.

It added: “Iranian anti-ship cruise missiles at these sites pose a threat to international shipping in the strait.”

On Tuesday, regime officials said new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei had rejected offers to negotiate with Washington — instead vowing to fight.

In another major blow to Israeli and US operations, the IDF said Gholamreza Soleimani, a 62-year-old Basij paramilitary commander, was also killed in a separate attack on Tuesday.

Katz said: “Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Larijani and the head of Iran’s central repression apparatus Basij (Suleimani) were removed last night.

“(They) joined the depths of hell with Khamenei, the head of the destruction program, and all the deposed members of the axis of evil.”
