“I was extremely scared that I would be fired and rehired because I had a big secret.”
“When I auditioned for the show, I lied to them and told them I was 18.”
He further explained that his true age was eventually revealed “halfway through the first season”, and he also had to admit that he was married to Jennifer Earles at the time.
He said, “I remember a senior executive at the network came to Show Night and said, ‘Hey, so you’re 28,’ and I said, ‘I am.’
“I was like, ‘Yeah, that girl I keep hooking up with? She’s my wife,'” he continued.
He said the executive’s response was surprisingly pragmatic, although it came with a specific request.
“(The executive) was like, ‘Any more secrets? Is there something we should know?’ I was like, ‘No.’ He was like, ‘Do you have any kids?’ And I said, ‘No kids.’ He says, ‘Let’s go ahead and keep it this way for a few years.’
