A French sailor appears to have accidentally leaked the live location of a top warship while out jogging.

A crew member logged a routine run on a fitness app while circling the deck of France’s premier aircraft carrier, potentially revealing his exact location during a volatile Middle East mission.

The sailor recorded a 4.3-mile, 35-minute workout on the Charles de Gaulle on March 13 as she headed toward the eastern Mediterranean.

But the mistake occurred when the run was uploaded to a public Strava profile — effectively pinpointing the nuclear-powered carrier’s location in real time, the French outlet reported. le monde Informed.

The warship was deployed by President Emmanuel Macron to protect key shipping routes amid rising tensions following US-Israeli attacks on Iran.

Although its presence in the area was no secret, the exact location of the ship and its fleet is highly sensitive.

Data from the run placed the massive 900-foot-long carrier near Cyprus, about 62 miles off the Turkish coast.

The Charles de Gaulle is the naval pride of France and the only nuclear-powered aircraft carrier outside the US military.

Days before the mistake, Macron, addressing the troops on the ship, had declared: “France is for its own security, to be at the side of its allies and friends who are being affected.”

He added: “Your presence today reflects the power of France, the power of balance, the power of peace.”

But Sailor’s fitness tracking may have put an end to that display of strength.

Strava, used by more than 120 people worldwide, allows users to publicly share routes and locations from workouts.

And this is not the first time that this has created security fears.

The app has previously exposed the sensitive activities of the security teams of world leaders – including those protecting Donald Trump, Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin – and even revealed the patrol routes of French nuclear submarines.

French military chiefs acknowledged the latest post breached strict rules.

The Armed Forces General Staff said that run sharing “does not comply with existing regulations” and warned that “appropriate measures will be taken by command.”

It added that “digital hygiene is a prerequisite for combatants before any deployment”.

The matter of concern is that the sailor may not have been alone.

At least one other public Strava profile has reportedly shared geotagged workouts from another French Navy ship on active duty — as well as snaps of the deck, crew, and onboard gym gear. New York Post Informed.

This mistake occurred at a critical moment in this area.

The Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil artery carrying about a fifth of the world’s supply, has been effectively closed amid the escalating conflict with Iran.

In a joint statement, France and allies including Britain, Germany and Canada said they would “contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the strait”.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump is considering sending troops to take control of Iran’s vital oil processing island in a bold attempt to free blocked ships.

The US President is considering taking a risky step to shut down or seize Iran’s Kharg Islands, which produces 90% of the rogue state’s crude.
