Barry Keoghan has told how online bullying has affected him.

“I think I’ve removed myself online, but I’m still a curious human being who wants to grow and, if I attend an event or go somewhere, you want to see how it’s received. And that’s not good,” he explained in an audio clip.
Keoghan said, “There’s a lot of hate online. It’s a lot of abuse about the way I look.”
The Irish actor said that he has fallen out of the public eye due to the harsh comments made by trolls.
“I’m telling you this to be completely blunt and honest: This is becoming a problem,” he revealed.
“So yes, I don’t need to hide because I’m hiding. I don’t need to go places because I don’t really go to places because of these things. But when it starts leaking into your art, it becomes a problem because then you don’t even want to be on screen,” saltburn Star is mentioned.
The father of one is also upset that his three-year-old son Brando will read harsh comments about him when he grows up.
Keoghan said, “It’s disappointing for the fans, but it’s also disappointing that my little boy has to read all this when he grows up.”
It is pertinent to mention that Keoghan had deactivated his Instagram account in the wake of speculations about his separation from Sabrina Carpenter in 2024.
Taking to X, he hit back at the “lies, hatred” and “disgusting comments” and explained why he left Instagram.
Barry Keoghan wrote in a lengthy statement at the time, “I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the Internet in a way I don’t normally respond to.”
