Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
Moses didn’t just think about God; He saw him. God was a constant sight before him; He never saw his face. He saw Jesus as his Savior, and he believed that the Savior’s virtues would be attributed to him. For Moses this belief was not a guess; This was a reality. That’s the kind of faith we need – faith that will stand the test. Oh, how often we succumb to temptation because we do not keep our eyes on Jesus! Our faith is not constant, because, through self-indulgence, we sin, and then we cannot bear it, like ‘seeing him who is invisible.’
Make Christ your daily, hourly companion, and you will not complain that you have no faith. Meditate on Christ. Look at his character. Talk about him. The less you exalt yourself, the more you will look to Jesus to exalt you. God has a job to do for you. Always keep God before you. Reach even higher for clearer ideas about the character of Christ. When Moses prayed, ‘I beseech you, show me your glory,’ the Lord did not rebuke him, but he granted his prayer. God said to His servant, I will reveal all My goodness before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. We live apart from God, and that is why we cannot see the manifestation of His power.
