Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi took his fourth consecutive victory in the Brazilian MotoGP on Sunday and now leads the championship standings.

The 27-year-old Italian took the lead immediately after starting from second on the grid and never looked back to take his second win of the year following his victory at the season-opening Thailand Grand Prix earlier this month.

Jorge Martin gave Aprilia a 1–2 finish, and the VR46’s Fabio Di Giannantonio held off reigning MotoGP World Champion Marc Márquez for third place.

    adjustment made

Bezecchi said he and his team were forced to dig deep after struggling during rain-affected practice on Friday.

Bezzecchi said, “It was a difficult weekend. It was very difficult on Friday. We started poorly and it was difficult to keep the motivation at a high level.”

“But the guys did a great job, and I pushed my limits to try to compensate as much as possible, and in the end, we found a way to make the bike work great.

“I adjusted some details in my riding, and as of this morning, I felt better, so I said, ‘Okay, maybe I can try to fight.’ It was an amazing race. I am very happy.”

With the win, Bezzecchi overtook KTM’s Pedro Acosta and now leads the championship standings by 11 points.

Bezzecchi dedicated his victory to his friend Roberto Lunadei, a 42-year-old mechanic who died in a road traffic accident last week.

    keep track of concerns

The race distance was reduced from 31 laps to 23 amid concerns about track degradation and scorching temperatures in Goiânia, a change that was announced just before the start of the race.

Saturday’s sprint race was delayed by more than an hour as officials made urgent repairs to the track after a large hole was found near the starting line.

The competition at the Ayrton Senna Circuit marked the return of MotoGP to Brazil for the first time since 2004.

MotoGP action now shifts from South America to North America with the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas on March 27-29.
