NATO has deployed warplanes to the two countries after Putin launched a massive revenge attack on Ukraine overnight.
The aging dictator vented his anger after being humiliated in a surprise Ukrainian attack on Russia’s biggest oil port.

Polish and Romanian warplanes were deployed near the Ukrainian border amid a hellish onslaught of Russian drones raining down on the banks of the Danube River.
Warsaw’s operational command said: “Due to the activity of long-range Russian air forces carrying out strikes on Ukrainian territory, Polish and allied air forces have begun to operate in our airspace.”
The response included fighter aircraft and early warning aircraft, as well as ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems placed on “the highest state of readiness”.
Russia fired at least 34 missiles, of which 25 were shot down by air defense forces. A total of 426 drones attacked Ukraine, of which 365 were shot down or destroyed.
In Zaporizhia, the Russians killed one and wounded five in attacks on residential buildings.
In Poltava, attacks on a hotel and residence killed two and injured 11, and early morning explosions rocked the Ivano-Frankivsk region, close to the Romanian border.
In Kharkiv, an attack on a train killed a 61-year-old man and injured others.
