A former staff member says that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s arrest came as a shock in his circle.
Speaking in a recent interview with LADbible Stories, former royal butler Grant Harold said this is a difficult time for King Charles.
He said: “When I saw him arrested, it was a bit of a shock because we haven’t had a royal family since Charles I. It was unprecedented to actually see what happened, and I think that’s why the king removed the titles because I think the king knew what was going to happen.
“The family’s got their contacts. They work with the government, work with the police who protect them. They must have known what was going to happen and there was certainly something to be said for the drastic steps they took. It’s probably good that they took those steps, especially given what happened then.”
This comes after Andrew himself gave up his royal titles due to his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
“In discussions with The King and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded that I have been repeatedly accused of detracting from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” she said in a statement.
“As always, I have decided to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision to step away from public life five years ago.”
