Lisa Kudrow, best known for her role as Phoebe Buffay in the comedy sitcom, FriendI still get “a little emotional” remembering the effects the program had on people after 9/11.
The star understood that the series gave people a sense of escapism after the horrific terrorist attacks on the United States, which took the lives of 2,977 victims.
In a video interview with Vanity Fair, Lisa said: “After 9/11, I understood how important entertainment really is, and how important comedy is, and how important Friends is for people because we need an escape from this.”
The actress who played her character continuously in all 10 seasons Friend Recalled emotional meetings with fans after the events of September 11.
She remembered: “I would drive home from the set, from friends, and people, you’d be at a stoplight, and the car would be next to you, someone would look and say, ‘Ah!’
“After 9/11, it still makes me a little emotional, I have to say. Someone will look and just say, ‘Thank you,’ like about to cry, and just say, ‘Thank you.’ And I totally understood what they meant,” Lisa explained to the outlet.
He said, “Then I think I really embraced, you know, what these shows mean to us. And (I) felt very proud to contribute to a break for people.”

“Then I said, ‘Oh, no, wait, no, because they must have shot it before 9/11. You work in that TV, you know. Don’t be stupid.’ Then I said, ‘No, no.’ This is imagination. In this world, that never happened,” she discussed, recalling the moment of her experience.
“I just needed that break, and I was so grateful that there was something out there to watch where 9/11 didn’t happen at all. It was a break that I really needed,” Lisa Kudrow admitted, which shows that celebrities need a break, too.
