A disgraced teacher has been arrested for allegedly using her classroom and car to have sex with a student.
Ashley Fiesler, 36, was charged Thursday after her former student, now an adult, reported the horrific allegations to police.
It is understood that Fiesler was a social studies teacher in the Washington Township School District from 2014 to June 2023, when she left.
The former teacher was twice nominated for ‘Teacher of the Year’ and was honored as the ‘Most Caring’ teacher during her time at Orchard Valley Middle School.
However, police have now heard from the victim of the alleged sexual assaults which took place in 2021, when they were pupils at the school.
It is alleged that several of the assaults occurred in the classroom and in Fisler’s car. Authorities said text messages between the pair confirmed “the illicit sexual nature of their relationship.”
The 36-year-old man has been charged with first-degree sexual assault of a minor, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of second-degree official misconduct.
The top charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, while the second-degree charges carry a maximum sentence of 10 years. He is currently being held in the Salem County Jail.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Fiesler denied all allegations in a statement to police when questioned last week.
In a statement, Washington Township Public Schools said: “The District is aware of charges announced by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office regarding a former middle school teacher.
“We take matters related to the safety and well-being of our students extremely seriously.
“The referenced individual is no longer employed by the District and has been separated from employment in April 2023.
“We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and will continue to do so. Because this is an active criminal case, we are unable to comment further at this time.”
