This is the bizarre moment police chase a fleeing suspect on a paddleboard after he jumped into the sea to try to escape custody.
Chase Cruz, 28, was pulled over by police while he was being given his Miranda rights in a Florida neighborhood.
Daytona Beach Shores police quickly followed Cruz as he headed straight toward the river.
In the shaky bodycam footage, an officer can be heard saying: “We found one running.”
Cruz, fully clothed, swam into the depths of the Halifax River.
Off camera, two policemen take up paddleboards to chase Cruz through the murky water.

Cruz can be seen stretched out on the boards as he puts his hands in front of him in surrender.
An officer wades into the water to help lift Cruz onto a paddleboard with a flotation aid.
They also handcuffed him so that he could not try to swim any further.
He was then brought to shore and lifted to safety by a team of officers.
Cruz is drenched and looks as if he is shivering from his daring attempt to escape.
He was charged with loitering, loitering and resisting arrest, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.
This comes after a heated altercation at Costco reportedly ended with a shopper being hit in the face with an axe.
A fight reportedly broke out at a Florida Costco after one member tried to get another’s membership card suspended gas Pump.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Valeria Andrea Aguilar was allegedly yelling at other shoppers and the gas station attendant.
Then another member came to the local station and asked the gas station attendant to cancel (his) Costco membership wplg Informed.
Police say the move prompted a strong reaction from Aguilar.
Aguilar allegedly ran after the woman’s vehicle on foot, then got into her car and followed her for about half a mile.
After confronting the woman, Aguilar punched her through the car window, according to police.
“He then grabbed the victim’s clothing and scratched her face, arms and chest,” the outlet reported.
The victim then allegedly hit Aguilar with an “axe/multitool” in self-defense.
Aguilar was arrested on a charge of theft with assault or battery. WTVJ.
