Is DeepSeek still closed?
Users experienced connection failures and slow responses, resulting in reports of faults from users. DeepSeek initially announced that the issue had been resolved after two hours, but a subsequent update revealed that performance issues still existed.
The company announced that it had successfully implemented a solution on Monday morning and was now monitoring its performance. Some users continued to have access issues despite this fix.
DeepSeek is experiencing an unusual outage as it has maintained nearly 99% uptime since launching its R1 model in January 2025. The disruption highlights the risks arising from over-reliance on AI platforms as the company serves as a major player in China’s AI industry.
The development comes amid growing competition from Alibaba Group and ByteDance and Tencent as all three companies have introduced new AI tools over the past few months. Ongoing speculation about DeepSeek suggests that the company may be developing an upcoming major update, even though it has not disclosed any specific release schedule.
