Kourtney Kardashian is celebrating a special moment with her stepchildren amid renewed tension with her husband Travis Barker’s ex-wife Shanna Moakler.
kardashian The 46-year-old star celebrated her eldest stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya’s 27th birthday on Sunday with a video of the family gathering outside. The clip shows the birthday girl being surprised as she brings out a candlelit cake, to which Attiana appears emotional and tells the group she might cry when they sing the song for her.
“Wait, I think I’m going to cry,” Atiana said, looking into the camera. Kardashian then told the group behind the camera, “Sing it, guys,” prompting everyone to sing the birthday song.
The reality star also tagged Atiana and wrote “a blessing” on the clip, referring to his relationship with his stepdaughter.
Barker also shared a simple birthday message for Atiana, while the birthday girl also shared glimpses of their celebration on social media, which included an outdoor movie night and homemade cake.
Barker has children Landon and Alabama with ex-wife Shanna Moakler, and he has remained close to Atiana, whom Moakler shares with boxer Oscar De La Hoya. Meanwhile, Kardashian has three children with Scott Disick and a son, Rocky, with Barker.
However, the family dynamics have not been free of tension as Moakler previously accused Kardashian of crossing boundaries in her relationship with Barker’s children.
In previous interviews, Moakler claimed that the dynamics of co-parenting were never properly discussed and suggested that boundaries were crossed regarding her role as a mother.
“I don’t think those women have those conversations with anybody,” Moakler said in the Feb. 27 episode. when reality sets in Podcast hosted by Brittany Cartwright.
The former Miss USA has also expressed concern about being recused from decisions related to children.
“At one point I thought it wasn’t respectful,” Moakler said. “At certain times, I thought, ‘Wow, if I had your kids, I wouldn’t be doing any of the mess you’re doing to my kids.'”
Despite the estrangement, Kardashian has said that she treats her role as a stepmother carefully, and says that she tries to support Barker’s children in any way they are comfortable with – whether as a friend or as a parent.
