Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 has already started and the controversy has been revolving around the defending champions Lahore Qalandars since last night. Now the franchise has imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh on Shaheen Shah Afridi for violating the security protocol. The team captain has been involved in some security violations ahead of the match against Karachi Kings.
According to a letter written by Punjab Police to PSL CEO Salman Naseer, Afridi and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza were accused of “forcibly taking” people into Raza’s room, thereby violating security rules.

The letter details how, after PCB security personnel and then Qalandars owner Sameen Rana rejected pleas to allow the visits, the pair ignored the refusals and escorted the visitors despite resistance from security staff.

However, Raza responded to claims of security breach involving him and Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi during the Pakistan Super League. The allegations included four “unauthorized” individuals entering the team’s hotel room.
Raza denied the allegations against Afridi and claimed that the four guests were close family members and long-time acquaintances, and Afridi was merely helping Raza by bringing them to his room at his request.
Raza also said that he was with Shaheen Shah Afridi in the lift and there was no aggressive escort. He further mentioned that his visitors, some of whom he has known for 19 years, included his wife and children, whom he rarely sees due to their permanent presence in Pakistan.
