Inflation in the euro zone rose to 2.5% in March, according to the latest preliminary data from Eurostat on Tuesday.
Eurozone inflation was above 1.9% in February and well ahead of the European Central Bank’s 2% target.
The rise largely reflects a sharp surge in energy prices since the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran in late February. Economists polled by Reuters had expected a reading of 2.6%.
