Additionally, several players withdrew just before the start of the tournament to participate in the IPL, which is being held simultaneously. Given the situation the Pakistan Cricket Board is currently facing, some believe that this could be a marketing move aimed at promoting the league and attracting global attention, even if it means resorting to controversial tactics.

Speaking in a YouTube video, Rashid Latif decided not to comment directly on the specifics of the incident, but instead offered a broader perspective on how such disputes work.

He pointed to the long-standing nature of such issues in the sport, saying, “I don’t want to talk about ball tampering. Otherwise, I have to talk about my playing days because it would be unfair to just talk about current players.”

Rashid Latif further suggested that controversies are often used as a publicity tool, drawing parallels with the entertainment industry.

“If a film is coming and you know it will be a flop, then it is thrown into controversy. Like they did with The Hundred when they said no Pakistani player would play. No one knew The Hundred before that,” he commented, on how stories can be shaped to attract attention.

As the debate heated up, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif added an interesting perspective, and shifted the story beyond the incident. Rather than focus solely on whether or not the ball was tampered with, Latif highlighted a broader reality of modern cricket: the growing influence of controversies in keeping leagues relevant and constantly in the headlines.
