A federal US judge on Tuesday issued a preliminary injunction barring further construction of the White House ballroom. After the National Trust for Historic Preservation sued the White House, Judge Richard Lyons ruled that proper procedures were not followed before the project began.
The judgment said: “I conclude that the National Trust is likely to succeed on the merits because no statute comes close to giving the President the authority he claims. The President of the United States is the steward of the White House for future generations of the First Families. However, he is not the owner!
“[U]ntil Congress blesses this project through statutory authorization, construction must halt!” It takes effect in 14 days, during which time appeals can be made.
The group said it did not even seek an environmental assessment of the project or authorization from Congress.
he accused donald trump Violated the U.S. Constitution, “which reserves to Congress the power to dispose of property belonging to the United States, and to make all laws”.
The president, responding to the decision on his Truth Social, called the conservation group “a radical leftist group of lunatics.”
He wrote: “The National Trust for Historic Preservation, a radical leftist group of lunatics whose funding was cut off by Congress in 2005, is not suing the Federal Reserve for a building that has been destroyed inside and out by an incompetent and possibly corrupt Fed Chairman.
“The once magnificent building is billions of dollars over budget, will never be completed and will never open.
“All the beautiful walls inside have been torn down, never to be rebuilt, but the National “Trust” for Historic Preservation never did anything about it!”
