Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are reportedly facing a disagreement over their daughter’s future.
The former couple have long been praised for maintaining a co-parenting relationship, but now insiders claim tensions are rising over their daughter Apple Martin.
Apple, who is about to graduate from Vanderbilt University, has already begun building a public profile. However, the Coldplay frontman is said to be wary of the pressure that comes with fame.
The insider told Closer Magazine, “Chris is extremely protective and cares about what the entertainment industry does to people. But there’s less than a zero chance she’ll listen to him; she’s very stubborn and knows what she wants.”
He added, “He wants her to finish college and take things slowly instead of rushing into a Hollywood career, but his words are falling on deaf ears. Gwyneth is so excited to help Apple realize her dreams, Chris also needs to be on board at some level.”
According to sources, Apple is prepared in every way, but Chris believes that the pressure that comes with stardom “can lead people down a very bad path, he has seen it up close many times and he can’t help but protect his little girl from that risk.”
An insider said, “Chris has no doubt that Apple has the talent to get to the top, he’s just terrified of what that would actually mean and he’s quite disappointed that Gwyneth won’t be able to see things from his perspective.”
Additionally, the source revealed, “Chris argues that times are different than when he was at the peak of his fame. He believes it’s all ten times more toxic and offensive and is only getting worse. And once you’re in that spotlight there’s no real way to get back from it, that’s what keeps him up at night.”
“But whenever Chris starts talking about the pitfalls of fame and how hard it’s going to be, Gwyneth just tells him that she’s letting fear take over. She always points out that Apple has watched her achieve fame her whole life, she’s seen the glamorous side and the tough side up close, and in Gwyneth’s mind that gives her a huge advantage because she’s not going to be in this darkness,” he added.
It’s worth mentioning that while Chris Martin is concerned about Apple, Gwyneth Paltrow “doesn’t have the same concerns.”
The actress and businesswoman believes Apple is “really very grounded despite the life she grew up in, which is why she feels so confident about supporting her ambitions.”
He added, “She also believes she doesn’t really have a choice, Apple has made up her mind about what she wants and she’s an adult, if they try to stand in her way, they’ll only risk alienating her.”
