Kylie Minogue played a clever prank on her fans on April Fools’ Day.
The pop icon revealed she created an entire fake EP complete with cover art and tracklist, leading followers to believe new music had just arrived.
The idea was inspired by Will Ferrell’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2019, where he jokingly listed non-existent Kylie songs while in character.
Revealing via video on Instagram, Kylie said she and her team began subtly teasing the fake project, sharing a blurry cover before unveiling the alleged EP titled Hot Air Balloon For Two.
Many fans rushed to stream or purchase the release, but were redirected to one of his classic hits instead.
“Okay, okay lovers, I’m grateful to you for that April Fool’s fun,” Kylie Minogue wrote in the caption on social media.
The singer added, “High five to @teamkylie and thank you to Ron and @jimmyfallon for all the joy.”
She said, “But wait… why were you all really up for this?! Energy??? Commitment???”
“I’m really impressed with you,” Kylie concluded.
