A royal expert has revealed why Meghan Markle was kept away from Queen Elizabeth II’s deathbed.
According to the book by Tom Bowers BetrayalThe Duchess of Sussex was in the UK with Prince Harry for work in September 2022 and had extended her trip after the Queen fell ill.
However, then-Prince Charles reportedly called Harry to say that Meghan could not stay at Balmoral, where the queen spent her final days.
He said that the reason behind this decision was that Meghan had previously declined the invitation to visit.
“When Charles heard that Meghan intended to visit, he called Harry. This was unacceptable, Charles said,” the author wrote.
“Because Meghan declined the Queen’s invitation to Balmoral during her lifetime, she was not welcomed to Balmoral upon her death,” he said.
“It was unimaginable to share his grief with Meghan, who brought disgrace to the monarchy,” Charles said. He believed that, until her final day, his mother was traumatized by Harry’s infidelity.
Charles also told Harry that Kate Middleton also did not appear to tell him that Meghan was not being singled out.
“Charles ends his argument by revealing that Kate will not be coming, so Meghan has not been chosen.
“Still angry, Harry learned that William, unwilling to wait any longer, had ordered the plane to take off.”
