Donald Trump has vowed to attack Iran’s oil facilities as he called on other countries to “take care” of the Strait of Hormuz.
The US President threatened to attack the embattled regime’s energy plants in his latest address on the escalating war in Iran.
Trump urged countries to show “courage” by helping reopen the Strait of Hormuz – the route for a fifth of global oil exports.
But he highlighted that America does not need a major waterway.
His call for other countries to loosen Tehran’s grip on the vital trade route suggests energy prices may remain high for the foreseeable future.
He urged other countries to take responsibility – but made no mention of Washington stepping in to help.
During a speech Wednesday night, Trump also paid tribute to the 13 American service members killed in the conflict.
He also said that the war is almost over.
Trump said, “We must honor his life by completing the mission… We’re going to do it very quickly. We’re getting very close.”
He also claimed: “I am pleased to say that our main strategic objectives in Iran are about to be met.”
Trump doubled down on a promise to never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons, while claiming that Tehran’s navy and air force were “depleted” and “ruined”.
He also threatened: “In the next two weeks we are going to hit them very hard.
“If there is no deal we are going to attack all their power plants.”
Trump also threatened to attack all of Iran’s oil plants – something he said the US had avoided out of fear it would completely paralyze the country.
The Middle East war began with the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israeli strike on Tehran on February 28.
The sensational death of the late Pariah led the regime to launch missiles and martyr drones across the region.
Over the next few weeks US assets, airports and homes were attacked in the Gulf countries – with several deaths reported in the region.
Travel chaos broke out in Dubai, Doha and other major cities in the Middle East, with thousands of flights grounded, leaving countless Britons stranded.
Tehran’s upcoming capture of the Strait of Hormuz threw global energy markets into chaos as US-Israeli bombing of Iran continued.
Several top regime figures were eliminated as Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the slain Ayatollah, was crowned the new supreme leader, despite not being seen in public since taking the new title.
Trump has claimed the US military is on track to achieve its objectives – amid speculation he is planning a ground invasion of the embattled nation.
The US President claimed Iran has asked for a ceasefire – while also vowing to continue attacks on the rogue state “until the Stone Age” until the Strait of Hormuz is liberated.
Trump said on Truth Social on Wednesday: “The President of the new regime of Iran, who is much less radical and far more intelligent than his predecessors, has asked the United States for a ceasefire!
“We will consider when the Strait of Hormuz will be open, free and clear. Until then, we will push Iran into oblivion or, as they say, send back to the Stone Age!!!”
Tehran’s Foreign Ministry condemned Trump’s claims, calling them “false and baseless.”
