The Florida Panthers defeated the Boston Bruins 2–1 in their latest Bruins vs. Panthers encounter, ending Boston’s four-game winning streak.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves, including 15 in the third period, to ensure Florida’s victory.
Mackie Samoskevich and Sam Bennett scored early to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the first eight minutes.
According to the NHL, Bobrovsky said, “It was a good game, a lot of fun. It’s fun to win and it’s great to be with the guys.”
“We had a lot of young faces, but they stepped up and did a good job. … They’re a good team, you know they’re not going to go away. It was going to be a battle. You just try to enjoy the moment, enjoy the moment.”
Fraser Minton scored a goal for Boston late in the first period, but the Bruins were unable to score an equalizer despite late pressure.
Boston coach Marco Sturm was critical of his team’s performance: “We didn’t respect our opponent tonight.”
“They took a lot of people out, and we didn’t do our job. Shame on us today.”
Florida coach Paul Morris praised his short-staffed team, saying: “Our guys played. They came out fine the last two games.”
