Halle Bailey just talked about how she takes that feeling of pain and heartbreak and incorporates it into her music, revealing how personal experiences shaped her debut solo album and even helped her get through a difficult period in life.
Singer releases her first album Love? Or something like that… in October, including tracks alone And brave facewhich explores themes of betrayal, resilience and self-reflection.
Actress Halle, who stars in You, Me and Tuscany, discusses the inspiration behind the record in a chat People magazine.
The project came after her highly publicized split from rapper DDG, with whom she had two-year-old son Halo.
Their split initially appeared to be amicable but later included domestic violence allegations and a restraining order amid a custody dispute, which was resolved last October.
Halle said: “There were a lot of entries in my diary about my experience through love over the last few years.”
Referring to the album’s themes, he further said: “(The project was) coming out of your version of that moment that you thought was love and looking back and asking yourself, ‘Was that love?’ Just the journey that you continue on as a young woman.”
When she reflected on how the separation from DDG affected her, Hailey noted, “I’m great. I’m just grateful to be here.”
She added, “I’m grateful that I get the chance to bring it to the world. It makes me so happy to see people respond to those songs. It really blows my mind when I’m able to find some version of a creative outlet and have that impact on people.”
Additionally, Halle also praised her sister Chloe Bailey, saying, “Chloe is so good at this. She’ll say, ‘Go ahead. She’s a good person!’ “I’ve also tried to keep up with me, but, you know…yeah, he’s better than me at that.”
It is worth mentioning that Halle Bailey became famous as a part of the group Chloe x Halle before achieving success in solo music and films.
She achieved global recognition after starring in The Little Mermaid, earning praise for her performance as well as her singing.
