Former CSK batsman Ambati Rayudu claimed that Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has managed to earn the respect of the players despite being a very young leader of a franchise that includes many star players like Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Rajasthan Royals made a very bold move as they appointed young Ryan Parag as the new captain of the team after Sanju Samson was transferred to Chennai Super Kings. He has led the Royals by example.
Rajasthan Royals, who are ranked 9th in the 2025 IPL points table, have made a great start in this season of IPL. Under the leadership of Riyan Parag, the Royals have won two consecutive games by defeating Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.

Ambati Rayudu’s latest opinion on RR skipper, “I can see a lot of respect for him in the team.”
Former CSK legend Ambati Rayudu has claimed that Rajasthan Royals have taken the best decision by handing over the captaincy to Riyan Parag, who despite being a young leader, has managed to earn immense love and respect from his teammates.
He stressed that the team is enjoying playing under the new captain. The view came after Rayudu shared his thoughts on ESPNcricinfo after Royals’ second successful win of the season.
“He is doing a fantastic job and I am sure the coaching staff is giving him complete freedom. I can easily see that the RR group has a lot of respect for him. It is great to see. When you have a young captain, the biggest challenge is to earn that respect. I can see a lot of respect for him in the team. He seems to be enjoying himself, which is a good sign,” claimed the former Indian batsman.
Aaron Finch underestimates Yashasvi Jaiswal for captaincy role
Riyan Parag is just 24 years old and was unsuccessful as a stand-in captain in a few matches last season, despite which the franchise and the new owners backed the young player as their captain. However, a former Australian batsman has underestimated players like Yashasvi Jaiswal for the role of captain in the IPL.
Aaron Finch has told that Riyan Parag is quite lucky that there is not a single person in the current Rajasthan Royals team who can overpower Parag with his ambitions as a captain. He believed that if there was such a player, it would have made Parag’s life difficult.
Finch said, “It is also important in this regard that when you have a young captain, it is not someone who has missed the opportunity to lead the team. Often, there can be resentment towards the person who has got the job. He has a team of young superstars. He can almost guide them into the next phase of their careers and produce a generation of seriously good players for RR.”
Yashasvi Jaiswal is leading RR with the bat
Under the captaincy of Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals have gone through the toughest phase, often called the transition phase, for a team with a lot of youth. However, on the batting front, Parag managed to score 14* and just 8 runs from 11 balls in the second match against Gujarat Titans.
However, Yashasvi Jaiswal, on the other hand, has hit some tremendous hits as he is the highest-scoring batsman for the Royals. An unbeaten 38 runs in the first game for the Royals opener and a brilliant half-century in the second game have made his role crucial for the RR team.
