The kidnapping of Gucci Mane has taken a shocking turn as federal prosecutors have revealed that the rap icon, who was allegedly kidnapped and robbed at gunpoint earlier this year, was caught up in a conspiracy led by his own signifier.
As reported BBC, Following a coordinated federal investigation across three states, the ambush resulted in the arrest of eight people, including fellow artist Pooh Shiesty.
The incident occurred on January 10, 2026, at a recording studio in Dallas, and according to federal complaints, Pooh Shiesty (born Lontrell Williams Jr.) arranged the meeting under the guise of a professional collaboration.
As soon as Mane arrived, the atmosphere became completely negative. Prosecutors allege that Williams Jr. pointed a “black AK-style pistol” at his mentor, forcing him to sign legal documents that would release the young rapper from his contract at Mane’s 1017 Records.
The victims, who included Maney and several unidentified associates, reportedly believed “they were going to be killed” as the defendants displayed several firearms.
During the ordeal, Mane was allegedly stripped of her wedding ring, watch, earrings and cash. Another victim was strangled and robbed of his Rolex watch and Louis Vuitton bag.
US Attorney Ryan Raybould noted his gross lack of conscience following the crime. “Within hours of leaving the Dallas studio, several defendants were displaying items on social media that appeared to be the stolen jewelry,” he said.
BBC It is also reported that Williams Jr. was reportedly under house arrest for a previous firearms conviction at the time of the January kidnapping.
The rapper’s father, Lontrell Williams Sr., was among eight suspects arrested in Dallas, Memphis and Nashville.
A suspect remains at large and investigators are currently working with Georgia authorities to locate him.
