Not many people know this, but as well as being a beauty editor, I’m also a fully qualified makeup artist. I trained long before I got into my current career, and I still do all my friends and family’s makeup before big events. Although I’m quite adept at creating a seamless base and can create a perfect winged eyeliner with my eyes closed, there is one product I still haven’t mastered, and that’s contour stick.
The thing is, contouring wasn’t really thing When I was in makeup school. Sure, bronzer was popular, but the use of cool-toned products to help accentuate my cheekbones didn’t take off until I left journalism studies. So, whenever my friends ask me to draw a little contour on them, my hands practically shake from nerves.

Formula
I think many people agree that this product is top tier because of the easy-to-use stick, and while I strongly agree, I think the formula is another reason why the Contour Stylus is so easy to use. I’ve tried a lot of contour sticks and Cream bronzers in the past, and while some were good, many seemed thick, heavy and hard to blend, making my cheeks look messy instead of naturally defined.
The difference with this product is that it feels light, creamy, and hydrating, which means it blends like butter. Honestly, as far as contouring formulas are concerned, I’d say it’s completely silly. If you make a mistake, it’s super easy to fix, and the moisturizing formula gives skin a second-nature finish, so you don’t have to worry about any harsh lines.
application
The best thing about this product is that it comes in a thin stick, which allows precise application especially around the cheeks and nose. It feels a bit like using a pencil, but try to resist the urge to write it all over your face. Instead, focus on areas where you want natural definition. For me, these are my cheekbones, my nose, my jaw line and around my temples. I just pull it out, then use my fingers or Makeup brush to blend it. It’s so easy I can do it in the car, on the tube, on the plane or wherever I need to create a quick makeup look. If you are also fond of foundation stick or blusher stick then you will like this.
Shades
There are currently four shades available, designed for different skin tones. I chose “Marble”, which is also VB’s favorite shade, and found that it matched my skin tone perfectly. Would I like to see a larger shade range from the brand in the future? Yes. That being said, I think each shade looks very discreet, and I like that none of them look too warm, as you ideally want to choose cooler tones to create a naturally contouring effect.
Result
As you can see, this product creates a naturally defined finish. If you love statement makeup looks, this is probably Not there. For you, but if you are new to contouring or, like me, are not very good at it, I recommend adding this to your makeup bag as soon as possible. This is the perfect product for minimal expense, A dazzling makeup look that you can wear every day. The buttery formula and thin stick make this the fastest, easiest contouring stick on the market, and it’s one of those products that makes you think, “What did I ever do without this?”
