Samsung Electronics, global partner of Street League Skateboarding (SLS), today announced that the Galaxy S26 Ultra was used for the first time to film a live Street League Skateboarding (SLS) competition when it captured the SLS DTLA Takeover on April 4. The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s pro-grade camera redefines the role of mobile devices in sports, delivering a refreshing visual experience of skateboarding that reflects the intensity of the game.
Sports broadcasting is evolving, bringing fans closer to the experience by moving the cameras closer to the action. Samsung is driving this change with the Galaxy Camera system and its ability to operate at broadcast-level performance through the pairing of connectivity and mobility. Earlier this year, Galaxy flagship devices were used to stream the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, where Samsung worked with Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to embed Galaxy devices throughout the venue on one of the world’s largest sporting stages. The result was a new layer of visual storytelling, capturing a dynamic perspective that complemented traditional broadcast coverage. These capabilities were extended to the Galaxy Unpacked 2026, which showcases the ability to deliver professional-grade video capture and transmission.
Now, Samsung is helping lead this change within skateboarding competitions by integrating the Galaxy S26 Ultra directly into key course features throughout the SLS 2026 season – including rails, ledges and gaps, and fully scaling the Galaxy POV (point of view), introduced for the first time at the 2026 SLS Sydney stop.
“Mobile innovation is opening up new possibilities for how games are captured and experienced,” said Joshua Cho, executive vice president of Mobile eXperience (MX) business and head of the visual solutions team at Samsung Electronics. “At Milano Cortina, we demonstrated how Galaxy technology can complement traditional broadcast systems. With Street League Skateboarding, we’re bringing that same approach directly with our latest, most advanced device cameras, and using mobile POV to capture skateboarding from an entirely new perspective.”

Embedded throughout the course, the devices provide a skater-level perspective, offering angles that traditional broadcast systems often can’t capture. This footage feeds directly into the live production workflow, enabling almost instant replay and providing viewers with a fresh visual experience that reflects the intensity of the game.
From speed to the precision of each landing, skateboarding is defined by details that are often lost from afar. With mobile cameras placed directly inside the course, Samsung is reimagining how the game is experienced, bringing fans closer to every mid-air action, board flip and landing. These new approaches provide deeper insight into technique, timing and control while strengthening the connection between fans, sport and athlete.
With Samsung’s most advanced mobile imaging system ever, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is designed to perform in fast-paced, unpredictable environments, just like athletes do. It delivers professional-grade camera performance and high-quality footage in a wide range of shooting situations with advanced stabilization, intelligent processing and the ability to maintain clarity in low-light or high-motion situations. This allows it to work with traditional cameras while maintaining clarity, stability and detail within locations where traditional broadcast cameras cannot easily reach.
The placement of the Galaxy S26 Ultra devices follows the rhythm and flow of each race, revealing the style, pace and precision of each move from within the course itself. Galaxy features also expand the creative possibilities of production. Features like Super Steady with Horizontal Lock Stabilization help maintain smooth, level footage even during high-speed motion, while Instant Slo-Mo enables detailed replay of tricks. Together, these capabilities allow production teams to capture skateboarding with greater clarity, consistency and proximity – showcasing the precision, style and technical skill behind every movement.

“Skateboarding is reaching more people than ever before, especially as the sport continues to grow on the global stage,” said Brett Clark, chief revenue officer of Thrill Sports, parent company of Street League Skateboarding. “Our collaboration with Samsung helps us evolve how to share the sport with fans while staying true to the creativity and culture that defines skateboarding.”
Galaxy S26 Ultra debuts POV integration on SLS DTLA takeover signal is where sports broadcasting is headed. As the SLS Championship Tour continues, Samsung will continue to explore how mobile technology can evolve into a versatile broadcast tool. With major global sporting events and the road to Los Angeles 2028, this shift suggests a future in which the boundary between smartphone cameras and broadcast cameras will continue to disappear, bringing fans closer to the action.
