Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won their second game of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against their arch-rivals, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. The defending champions scored 250/3 in their 20 overs, helped by lethal strikes from Australian batsman Tim David.
Tim David created complete havoc against the CSK bowlers as he changed the course of the match in the space of two overs. David scored 30 runs against Jamie Overton with the help of four sixes in the 19th over and one of these six went 106 meters outside the stadium. Last night fans enjoyed Tim David’s batting.

Tim David remained unbeaten after scoring 70 runs on 25 balls and hit 8 sixes and three fours in his explosive innings. David has been one of the best overseas batsmen in the IPL against spin and this was seen last night when he hit three consecutive sixes off Noor Ahmed.

RCB’s fellow players were also surprised after Tim David’s innings. After the match, David was seen sitting in the dressing room with his teammates while all-rounder Romario Shepherd gave his emotional comments on the Australia batsman’s innings.

“We all know you (David) take your first five balls and then, you know, go away,” Shepherd joked in a video circulating on social media. Saying this, the West Indies star made a playful gesture, which triggered laughter in the dressing room. Even star batsman Virat Kohli could not stop laughing in response to Shepherd’s comment.
Tim David received the Player of the Match award. He completely changed the course of the match with his lethal innings; If that innings had not been played, the scenario of the match would have been different.

After playing the match-winning inning, David said, “Very happy (with my innings) – that doesn’t always happen. The captain was smoking, and I just took a few of his balls – it was great fun. I don’t change my game much, but the preparation I do gives me confidence. Batting with Jitesh and Shepherd behind me really gives me confidence.”
“We do a lot of preparation here. It was good to work with DK – he is an experienced player in these conditions. Has been in the IPL for a few years. With that preparation, you don’t put pressure on yourself to perform.”
CSK’s top order faltered
Talking about the match, CSK never looked comfortable while chasing the target of 251 runs as they lost three wickets early; However, quick innings from Sarfaraz Khan, Prashant Veer and Jamie Overton saved CSK from somewhat of a humiliation as they were bowled out for 207 and lost the match by 43 runs.
Sarfaraz was the only batsman to score a half-century for CSK in the run chase, and the defeat meant that the Men in Yellow have now lost three consecutive games for the first time in IPL history. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad will be under immense pressure in IPL 2026, as any further defeat will cost him his captaincy.
