Sydney Sweeney is facing criticism after her latest bold move.
The actress reportedly climbed the iconic Hollywood sign during a filming campaign for her lingerie line. Video later shared online showed Sweeney scaling the structure at night and hanging a row of lace bras on part of the sign.
However, her move was immediately criticized on social media with one saying, “Guess they didn’t learn how to advertise after that jean ad.”
Another said, “Doesn’t climbing the sign get a real jail sentence?”
While the production was allowed to film nearby, officials clarified that no authorization was given to climb or physically interact with the sign.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce did not grant any license or permission to any production involving Sidney Sweeney,” the statement said.
It’s worth mentioning that authorities have not filed any charges and the Los Angeles Police Department has said that no formal complaints have been made so far.
This comes after Sidney Sweeney was at the center of a major controversy surrounding his campaign American Eagle Outfitters. The ad, which was built around their slogan “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans”, quickly went viral and critics said the campaign’s word play on “jeans” and “genes” blurred the line between fashion and genetic traits. Some said it echoes problematic ideas associated with beauty standards and even eugenics.
