A teacher was allegedly stabbed to death by a teenage student who was said to have a grudge against him.
Olesya Baguta, 55, was ambushed when she arrived for work at School No. 5 in Dobryanka, Russia, on Monday morning.
According to reports, her teenage killer, named Matvey, waited at the school gate before launching his brutal attack.
The knife wounds proved fatal and Baguta died in hospital from his injuries.
The Russian language and literature teacher was popular with students and was voted Teacher of the Year in 2018.
Desperate efforts were made to save Baguta, who was also the vice-principal at the school, including an air ambulance, which took him to hospital.
“Unfortunately, despite all the efforts of the doctors, it was not possible to save him,” Perm Governor Dmitry Makhonin said.
The teenage attacker was arrested and is in police custody.
The student was already on the police register, and had been held at school for a year due to behavioral issues.
Matvey had made violent threats in the past, but sources say these warnings were “not taken seriously”.
Police are investigating the motive for the brutal murder, but some sources claim that he had a “hatred” against his class teacher.
The victim comes from a family of teachers and said that she is his disciple. Opinion It was her “most valuable thing” as a teacher.
This happened when a 14-year-old student set his classroom on fire and attacked his teacher and classmates with a hammer.
The Russian schoolgirl reportedly threw a “Molotov cocktail” into the classroom, and as students tried to flee, she stood at the entrance wielding a hammer, ready to attack.
One student suffered burns on 50 percent of his body, and four other classmates were badly injured.
