Earlier today, a report indicated that Apple’s foldable iPhone production has hit a production wall that could delay it by several months. But now Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has refuted the reportSaying that the iPhone Fold is “on track” for an expected launch in September.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is reportedly set to launch in September
Mark Gurman writes bloomberg: :
Apple Inc.’s first foldable phone is set to arrive during the company’s usual iPhone launch period later this year, people with knowledge of the matter said, dismissing concerns about major manufacturing hurdles.
The company is scheduled to introduce a foldable model alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in September, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans have not been announced. Apple phones typically hit store shelves a week after they’re unveiled.
Apple’s stock fell today after Nikkei Asia reported serious production problems with the iPhone Fold. Apparently, Apple sources were inspired to share the positive news through Gurman.
Some time ago, Gurman himself said that he was expecting the release date of the iPhone Fold to be slightly later than the iPhone 18 Pro. This is still very possible, but it seems like Apple is feeling internally optimistic about its targeted September launch.
Although the complexity of the new display and materials may limit initial supplies by several weeks, Apple is currently working with plans to put the device on sale around the same time — or very soon after — as the new non-foldable model, the people said.
Gurman says: “Still, the release is six months away and production hasn’t ramped up yet. That means the timing isn’t final.”
It’s been a busy day for reporting on Apple’s iPhone Fold. Here are related articles published today:
