Chris Pratt reminiscing about his early career!
The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ star recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the character he was trapped in during his early acting days.
Pratt shared that he has often played a lover “who you don’t want to end up with” as he did with Anne Hathaway in 2009’s Bride Wars.
The character named Fletcher was a controlling lover who hated his girlfriend’s outspokenness.
Pratt said, “Since the beginning of my career, I have been offered this role frequently.”
He added, “What’s a guy you wouldn’t want a girl to have a relationship with, and that’s kind of a dirty character.”
“I got a lot of offers for it. I dined on ‘D****** Boyfriend’ for a long time,” Pratt said.
The ‘Jurassic World’ actor played the same role in 2011’s ‘Take Me Home Tonight and What’s Your Number?’, 2010’s ’10 Years,’ 2008’s ‘Wanted’ and the 2009 sitcom ‘Parks and Recreation,’ which ran for seven seasons.
However, Pratt’s role as a lazy lover in ‘Parks and Recreation’ comes off as a sore loser.
She said of the role, “It was like a cat and a dog if they got married. She’s like a golden retriever – the eternal optimist – and she’s just so alienated, and her character was so into the irony and comedy that comes from irony that she chose the least likely person and then fell in love. And it’s almost like that act, in itself, is an act of rebellious irony. And I’ve always loved it.”
