After American YouTuber Tyler Oliveira’s 1.5-hour video on H-1B in Texas went viral, a Redditor reacted to the hate he is getting from techies despite paying all taxes and being a law-abiding resident. Oliveira, who is known for targeting Indians, interviewed Indians in Texas, asked them whether they loved their homeland or America and then concluded that most of them were doing something illegal. As this has emerged as a hot-button issue for Texas journalists and content creators, Oliveira spoke to those who have been vocal against ‘H-1B visa abuse’. He called it illegal to come to the US on a student visa and then switch to an H-1B visa, which is a work visa, even though it is a legal and long-established path. Many Americans reacted with revulsion to the video as they concluded that they are only unemployed because of the H-1B visa program. One Redditor observed that H-1Bs not only fund the American economy, but they also fund outrage about themselves.

Some have suggested that H-1B visa holders did not invent Google, as a Redditor pointed out – H-1Bs are mediocre. One wrote, “If an American did the same job, they would pay the same taxes and probably more because the wages would be higher.” Another wrote, “H1Bs are just desperate people willing to accept abuse in exchange for a little money. They hardly have any real talent or ability.”
