Goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 17 saves.
The Sabers took an early 2–0 lead in the first period, but the Rangers responded with three unanswered goals in the first two periods to go up 3–2.

Despite the effort, the Rangers were already eliminated from the playoffs.
Buffalo turned the game around in the final period as Alex Tuch tied it early in the third, before Zucker put the Sabers ahead again a few minutes later. Benson sealed the win late on.
