The best Meta Quest headstraps always balance comfort and longevity, reducing the weight of the headset and adding great features like rechargeable batteries and washable pads.

The BoboVR S3 Pro not only takes things several steps further by improving headset comfort with pads and adjustable components, but it also includes a fancy fan that will keep your head cool for as long as the magnetically detachable, rechargeable battery pack lasts.

i put it face to face AMVR BS1A headstrap that looks similar but fails to match the quality and comfort of the BoboVR S3 Pro. You’ll have to pay a little more to get BoboVR’s headstrap (about $10 more), but that extra price makes a world of difference in terms of comfort and performance.

Everything about the BoboVR S3 Pro is a masterclass in VR headset comfort engineering. The headstrap comes with ample, removable and easily washable pads, ensuring that sharing your headset isn’t a gross experience.

It also features several adjustable components that provide a better fit due to the trademark design philosophy. Not only do the BoboVR’s headstraps slide over the side arms of the Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S, but they don’t even connect to the top buckle on the headset. This allows the BoboVR S3 Pro to get better angles than the Connector, and also means the headset can rotate independently of the headstrap.

For me, this is a significant difference because competing straps like the AMVR BS1 lock on a specific axis, and that’s too low for comfort on my face. I’ve dealt with this problem on some other headstraps before, and I almost always replace them with something else in no time.

On the back of the headstrap is a removable battery dock that magnetically attaches to the battery pack. The base headstrap includes one of these 10,000mAh batteries, rated for approximately 5 additional hours of play on the Quest. The battery life of the Headstrap will reduce depending on how often you use the built-in fan.

That built-in fan will keep your forehead cool in a way I haven’t seen with any other headstrap. The fans on the headstrap aren’t unique, but it has a design that completely covers my forehead and blows air onto it at multiple adjustable speeds, all easily adjusted via the control wheel on the left side.

That control panel also displays the percentage of the battery pack attached, so you know when your battery is about to drain. Like all other BoboVR headstraps, the battery will beep when attached or detached, so you don’t have to take off your headset to change the battery.

This battery pack can be easily charged via USB-C cable or any battery dock of the company. For this review, I used bobovr pd100Which comes with a dock and an extra battery. This dock has an easy-to-read display that shows the battery percentage of the docked battery pack and even includes an extra cable for charging more than one battery at a time.

    what to read next

The charger operates at 30W, which means it will take about two hours to fully charge each battery pack. Considering that each battery pack lasts for about five hours, there should never be a situation where you run out of battery, as long as you have two of them. This battery is required to run the fan, so make sure you’re using the battery with the headstrap if you want the full feature set.

The last thing I want to look at is comfort, and this is an area where the BoboVR S3 Pro particularly excels. It’s great to have a fan, battery, and display on a headstrap, but there’s no point wearing it if it’s uncomfortable.

The AMVR BS1 I compared it to is generally uncomfortable in my experience. It sits too low on my face and uses an angle that is constantly pushing the headset into my cheeks. The forehead pad of the BoboVR S3 Pro sits quite low on the strap, ensuring that all the weight is on this pad rather than my face.

You can see this difference in the image above, and although the angle doesn’t seem like it would make much of a difference, the surprising reality is that it does. There’s a secondary hinge in between the two straps that rotates, letting you get a better angle for the pad behind your head, and I find that the BoboVR’s hinge is very tight, making sure it stays at the angle you want.

    the one to beat

At the regular price of $89, the BoboVR S3 Pro stands squarely in the premium accessory market and makes no apologies for its price. BoboVR has long been a leader in the premium Meta Quest accessories field, and the company offers less expensive accessories e3 And m3 proThose who want the best of the best should opt for the S3 Pro instead.

It has more padding, more ways to adjust it to your comfort level, bigger batteries, and that all-important fan that keeps you cool and keeps lens fog away forever. It’s a winner for everything, except maybe your budget, but there’s something to be said about equipping your tech in a way that ensures long-term comfort.

Maximize your comfort and play time with the BoboVR S3 Pro, a premium headstrap from the world’s most popular VR accessories brand.
