Allegations of rampant ticket tampering in the Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians (DC vs MI) IPL 2026 match on April 4 made headlines. These allegations came to light within the DDCA (Delhi and District Cricket Association) during IPL 2026.
It was claimed that several premium class tickets, which could have cost more than Rs 1 lakh, were sanctioned to some unauthorized people during the match. The matter is now being taken to the police station for investigation.

The ticket tampering allegations not only damaged the reputation of the regional cricket boards but also created serious security concerns during the high-profile matches of IPL 2026. According to a report in Dainik Jagran, two directors of DDCA (Delhi and District Cricket Association) have accused employees of their own association of ticket scam. A complaint has also been lodged in the police station in this regard.

“Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) director Anand Verma has lodged an official complaint with the Delhi Police, calling it an organized criminal conspiracy,” the report claims.
Original tickets were already scanned and fake copies were made: Report
“When Verma arrived with his guests, they were stopped at the gate, exposing the entire fraud. Verma said that this was not just a case of ticket duplication, but an organized racket in which some DDCA employees and security personnel were involved. The original tickets were scanned in advance and fake copies were made, allowing multiple entries on the same ticket.”
It is now believed that those premium tickets were copied and later used by some unauthorized people. Who scanned or duplicated the tickets, which were approved only for the use of high-profile guests during the match, into the wrong hands? The question remains.
DDCA suffers financial loss due to ticket tampering in IPL 2026
Since the price of the tickets was more than Rs 1 lakh, and the number of tickets was one, it meant that the Delhi Cricket Board lost lakhs of rupees due to potential fraud.
The media report further said, “An official response was sought from DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma via phone and WhatsApp, but no response was received. A similar incident reportedly happened with the family of another DDCA director Navdeep Malhotra, whose tickets were also found to be pre-scanned. They have also filed a formal complaint.”
This has reportedly caused financial loss worth lakhs of rupees and also posed a serious security threat. Unauthorized entry without proper verification could put players, VIP guests and spectators at risk. According to the report, the effectiveness of the stadium’s security and surveillance systems has now come under scrutiny.
On April 4, for the 8th match of the ongoing IPL 2026 season, Delhi Capitals faced Mumbai Indians. Chasing a competitive target of 163 runs, Capitals won the match by 6 wickets. Mumbai Indians captain Pandya could not play the match due to illness and Suryakumar Yadav was the acting captain of the team.
